Meet the cast of Beauty and the Beast!

Posted on: 30th September, 2016

It is with great pleasure that Theatre Royal Bury St Edmunds announces the cast for its 2016 panto, Beauty and the Beast.

Louise Olley, originally form Stowmarket, has been cast as Belle. Louise returns for a second year as the lead following her performance as Jill in last year’s Jack & The Beanstalk.

Also returning for a second year is Leonie Spilsbury, who is taking on the role of Fairy Blossom.

Helen Slade, who grew up in Bury St Edmunds, has been cast as Vera. Beauty and the Beast will be Helen’s professional stage debut since graduating from drama school.

This year’s Dame, the wonderfully named Molly Muffintop, will be played by Eamonn Fleming. An experienced Dame, this will be Eamonn’s first panto with the Theatre Royal.

The all important character of the Beast will be played by Sebastian Hill

Britt Lenting lends her acting talents to the role of this year’s baddie Elvira.

Michael Lapham is onboard as Molly’s son, Barney Muffintop

And finishing off this superb cast is Martin Neely who takes on the role of Belle’s father, Sir Kenneth Branflake.

Beauty and the Beast has been written by Chris Hannon and will be directed by Theatre Royal’s Artistic Director Karen Simpson, her 3rd pantomime since joining the theatre in 2013. The traditional family pantomime is an in-house production by the Theatre Royal and runs between Friday 2 December and Sunday 15 January.

There is a BSL signed performance on Wednesday 14th December at 2pm and a relaxed performance on Friday 13 January 2017 at 1.30pm.

The cast are due to begin rehearsals this November in Bury St Edmunds.
